Stars aim for third win in row

MORNING Stars will be in search of a third straight win when they play Walter Sisulu University in an ABC Motsepe League fixture at the WSU Ibika Campus field tomorrow (3pm).

A victory for Stars will help to lift the Kwazakhele side away from the relegation zone.

The team has been successful in two of their previous fixtures.

They beat Callies 1-0 in a Bay derby and that was followed by a 2-1 win over Matatiele Professionals.

It will cost Stars blood and sweat to beat WSU who will go into the game oozing confidence after their 3-2 win against league contenders EC Bees last weekend.

The university students will be looking to cement their stay in the top eight and there is no better way to do so than to get three points against Stars.

WSU are seventh on the log with 29 points from 22 games. Their opponents are in 15th position with 18 points from 22 matches.

After losing 0-1 to Callies in their last fixture, Highbury will be out to redeem themselves when they take on Matatiele Professionals at the Thandanini Stadium tomorrow.

The loss was Highbury’s ninth defeat in the league so far.

They are 10th on the log, with 26 points from 23 games.

Fixtures:

Today, 6pm: Subs v Young Ideas (NU2 Motherwell Stadium). Tomorrow, 3pm: Mdantsane Mighty Bucks v EC Bees (Jan Smuts Stadium), WSU v Morning Stars (WSU, Ibika Campus), Matatiele Professionals v Highbury (Thandanini Stadium), Callies v FC Buffalo (Gelvandale Stadium), Tornado v Matta Milan (North End Stadium), Lion City v Future Tigers (NU2 Motherwell Stadium), City Lads v Mthatha City (Mt Ayliff Stadium).
