On-form Mfunzi romps to win in 15km race

NTOMBESINT­U Mfunzi, who won the 30km Human Race in Uitenhage a month ago, was an easy winner of the Sportsman’s Warehouse 15km women’s race on Saturday.

Mfunzi beat Ndileka Mvakwendlu by three minutes.

Melikhaya Frans, who set a new national record at the Human Race, finished fourth in the men’s category.

In a tight finish, Amos Nyongo was the overall winner in 45:48, beating Mariano Essou by five seconds.

Zolani Ngqaqa was third. Junior women: Nomakhosi Ntliziyo (Madibaz) 1:11:50, Ayoboga Mandidi (BRAC) 1:14:00, Hanneli Oliver (Madibaz) 1:33:22. ý MORE than 800 participan­ts completed the Parkrun at three venues across the metro on Saturday.

The bulk of the runners were at the Hobie Beach parkrun.

A total of 111 participan­ts turned up for the Sardinia Bay parkrun which was launched by Comrades legend Bruce Fordyce last week.

Paul Quinn, who took part in the Hobie Beach run, joined the 100 club at the event.
