Mazana the best in Easter soccer feast

FORMER Orlando Pirates and Bay United winger Luntu Mazana was voted the best player in the Mofa Build It Big Daddy’s Heineken Easter Soccer Tournament, which ended at the NU2 Stadium in Motherwell on Monday.

Mazana was in the Bush Bucks team which won the tournament, featuring 40 metro teams.

They beat Subs 6-5 in a penalty shootout after the game ended 0-0 after full time.

Bucks pocketed R18 000 and received a floating trophy and medals. Subs won R13 000 and medals. In the semifinals played earlier in the day, Bucks beat Lion City 2-1 while Subs beat Young Madrid 3-1.

As losing semifinali­sts, City and Madrid received R5 000 each.

Showvillag­e, Golden Aces, Motherwell Academy and Valencia, who lost in the quarterfin­als, received R1 000 each. Senior results: Semifinals: Lion City 1 Bush Bucks 2, Subs 3 Young Madrid 1.
