BOBANI IN THE NEWS

PUBLICITY seeker of note: isn’t this so-called deputy mayor a “whinger and whiner” of note? All he seems to want to do is see his ‘’mugshot” on the front page of the local media as often as possible, attacking issues that he appears to have little qualified knowledge about. This is why his “profound” outbursts on things he has limited insight into land him in the controversial predicaments that he finds himself in so often. Stop blowing hot air, my friend, and serve the people’s interests, not your own.

POOR Mongameli Bobani is allergic to highly educated, competent women (“Defiant Bobani vows to fight Zitumane”, April 26)! Did the same to Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela. Why a sexist in the mayoral committee? Call on the general to recall this chappie. Rubbish is piling up in the township.

SAD DAY FOR CRICKET

A SAD day for league cricket when winning the most matches on the field (as Gelvandale did) doesn’t win you the league, but it gets won around the boardroom table by lawyers/attorneys (as United has done) (“United make cricket history”, April 26). Time to get your house in order, Mr May.

CRICKET FOLLOWER

THANKS FOR CLEANING DRAIN

THANKS to municipal workers for cleaning a road drain in Parsons Hill of leaves and bucket-loads of soil for the first time in many years. Well done.

WILL DEPARTMENT PAY RECONNECTION FEE?

THE education department without electricity (“PE education officials still without electricity”, April 27): pray tell, is the department going to pay a reconnection fee and if so, how much?

REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS

I AGREE the Splash festival should be moved from Hobie Beach to Kings Beach (“Move festival away from Hobie Beach”, April 25, from Ross). Much more space at Kings Beach, and away from hotels and homes. Where it is at present is most disturbing in all respects. Shows total disrespect for all inhabitants of the area.

PAT, SUMMERSTRAND, PORT ELIZABETH

SHOULD The Herald report that nine million pilgrims flocked to Limpopo over Easter? Or that Archbishop Stephen Brislin has taken a group of pilgrims to Fatima? Why Angus Buchan’s gathering in Bloemfontein? (Bram Fischer must be rolling in his grave!) (“Significant, newsworthy gathering” and “Wake up and give us good news”, April 26 and “No coverage of Bloemfontein prayer meeting”, April 25)

We’ve already had a Christian government and it gave us apartheid. Buchan’s discriminatory views on LGBT and women contradict our constitution. Don’t be deceived by his Farmer Brown attire.

Buchan also [allegedly] preaches the prosperity Gospel. He claims healing with [allegedly] no evidence.

Perhaps what The Herald should report is that Mmusi Maimane apparently attended Buchan’s gathering. We want to remind the DA that we don’t trust the Rev Aloysias with our constitution!

FREEDOM DAY

JACOB Zuma went to where at great cost, at the taxpayer’s expense, just to make sure he could hear himself? No place to hide!

OLDIE, PORT ELIZABETH

WHAT’S WEALTH WITHOUT INTEGRITY?

THE apostle Paul says, “Freedom for me is Christ.” What is wealth without integrity? “What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul.”
