Grey hockey firsts beat Paul Roos

-

THE Grey first hockey side put in an excellent team performance to beat a well organised and highly motivated Paul Roos side 1-0.

The first-half exchanges were tense, with both teams defending well, resulting in very few goal scoring opportunities.

Grey took their opportunity in the 53rd minute when they successfully defended a Paul Roos penalty corner and released the ball swiftly up the left flank.

Jose Smith outpaced the scrambling Paul Roos defence and got his shot away with Lala Mazosiwe in position on the far post getting the final touch.

The final few minutes were frenetic, with Paul Roos pushing hard for the equaliser.

However, Grey remained composed and kept the opposition at bay.

ý Grey High’s first air rifle team competed at the Western Cape open held in Brakenfell in Cape Town on Saturday.
