ASPIRING soccer stars in the Eastern Cape get the opportunity to strut their stuff in front of an elite panel of national coaches at the Wolfson Stadium on Saturday when the Nedbank KeYona Team Search hits Port Elizabeth.

The search is the fourth stop for the Nedbank KeYona Team Search in their bid to identify, develop and ultimately deliver their selection of the best raw footballing talent in the country.

Aubrey Modiba, who was spotted at the 2014 trials, went on to represent Bafana Bafana and the men’s Olympic team.

The first trials took place on April 27 at Nedbank Cup holders SuperSport United’s home ground, the Lucas Moripe Stadium, in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, where close to 500 budding super stars pitched up.

Two days later, 400 hopefulls flocked to the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein to try their luck. The third stop was the Athlone Stadium onMonday last week, when just under 500 youngsters registered.

After Port Elizabeth, the search will head to the King Zwelithini Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal next Saturday before ending at the Rand Stadium in Gauteng on June 10.

The players selected at the try-outs will go through a rigorous selection process at the next phase of the competition, which is boot camp.

The final 18 will be drafted into PSL teams after playing at the KeYona Challenge against the 2017 Nedbank Cup winners.

The search is open to non-professionals between 18 and 23 .

Players must have a valid SA identity document and will be required to sign a contract to be part of the team.
