Olympiad to fight prejudice with ideas

-

THE Non-Discrimination Solutions Olympiad is a national competition where pupils enter solution ideas for any type of discrimination and stand a chance to win R10 000.

The olympiad is also part of a non-discrimination world-first by South Africa.

The Solutions Olympiad is open to all schools – primary (Grade 4 upwards), high, as well as special needs schools.

The competition format is similar to Idols, but instead of singing pop songs, pupils talk about their solution ideas for discrimination based on race, gender, disability, bullying, culture, prejudice or any issue they wish to address. No reference to any political party is allowed, and pupils should be able to present their idea in five minutes or less.

Pupils can enter in their individual capacity or as a pupil team, student-teacher-team or on behalf of their school.

Ideas could be a strategy, service, product, essay, event, theatre, poster, music, poetry, art, technology, video, sports or anything that you think is useful.

Your solution idea could be aimed at your school, community, family, street, suburb, sports club, country or even the entire globe!

To enter, all a pupil needs to do is e-mail their name and contact details to info@nondiscrimination.life.

When a pupil or team receives their entry number, they are officially eligible to enter their solution idea.

A time will then be arranged to visit pupils at their school and video their idea.

All entries will be captured on camera by August 31, with olympiad judging taking place from October 6-8.
