Top squash teams still unbeaten

LONDT Park A and NMMU A maintained their unbeaten records in the Eastern Province men’s first squash league as they handed each other’s second-string sides sound beatings this week.

Neither of the B teams managed to scramble a point as the fancied sides showed they would be the ones to beat this season.

With four wins out of four, Londt Park have the position at the top of the log with 46 points to date, but the varsity side are in touching distance, having collected 36 points from three games.

After an opening loss to Profiles, Crusaders have put together some decent performanc­es and three straight wins have taken them to 36 points from four games.

They won a good tussle with Old Grey A 11-6 on Tuesday, with Saders No 1 Paul Mason emerging as the winner against Bonakele Nomkala after a titanic struggle, taking it to 12-10 in the fifth.

Old warhorses Jacques Wessels (Old Grey) and Andrew Reekie also went the full distance, with Wessels finally getting away in the decider, winning it 11-2.

In the women’s league, Londt Park A and Crusaders A are matching each other step for step, with the sides locked on 46 points from four matches.
