Leaders Ama-units sweat for win

AMA-UNITS had a battle on their hands when they played Zwide Masters in a Nelson Mandela Bay Masters League fixture at the Molefe field.

The log leaders eventually scraped home to a 3-2 win on Sunday, with goals by Loyiso Tom, Tanduxolo Mapapu and Simphiwe Ramncwana.

Andile MacClean and an own goal by Tanduxolo Mapapu made up Zwide’s tally.

Sparks, who held the log leaders to a shock goalless draw last week, proved that the result was no flash in the pan when they thrashed Gqebera 4-0.

Thanduxolo Gxwalintlo­ko, Zola Zuzile, Thando Kekana and Melumzi Banzi were the destroyers.

Eleven Attackers retained second spot with an easy 4-1 over Winners.

Ncedisa Goniwe and Mthunzi Mrwebi scored a brace each for Attackers – and Nkosana Ndondo scored the consolatio­n goal for Winners.

In a goal thriller, PE All Stars beat Eberspache­r 5-3.

Luzuko Hambaze and Malibongwe Mfihlo scored two goals each with Melikhaya Mgudlane adding the fifth for Stars.

After several disappoint­ing results, Volkswagen bounced back with a 4-1 win over PE Eleven.

Simphiwe Beterhoot (2), Siyabulela Makhangela and Thozi Ngesi scored for Volkswagen – and Mncedi Mfuku for Eleven.

In a bottom-of-the-table clash, Soweto beat Joe Slovo 3-0, with Koko Mlambo, Lizo Klaasen and Malibongwe Bacela the scorers.

For tailenders New Brighton, Xolile Mbali scored the only goal against Veeplaas.
