The Herald (South Africa)

Dear Mr Galloway, I fully agree with you

-

MY dear friend, Mr D R Galloway, I truly enjoy reading your letters to The Herald. I am absolutely fascinated with your comments and suggestions on how to solve the problems of Port Elizabeth.

Yes, I fully agree with you, we must remove Athol Trollip and Retief Odendaal. At the same time, we must remove the DA coalition partnership, and then the DA must go back to Cape Town. Who wants them in PE? Not me.

Once done, we will need the ANC back in power so that we can continue with the lack of service delivery to the people we really “care” about.

Also, we need the corruption cycle to start all over again – I am running short of cash and I have some serious debts to pay off.

By the way, if I remember correctly, it was for these same reasons that the ANC was shown the front door. But with all the knowledge that you have, you can always prove me wrong.

Just in case I am correct, maybe we should ask SABC and ANN7 to start broadcasting that it was the DA that did not deliver to the masses and they are responsible for all the corruption in PE. What an excellent idea I have, don’t you think?

Also, your concerns about those “white monopoly capital”-controlled (WMC) businesses the DA panders to – well, that is a very serious problem.

With the ANC back in power, we can easily solve the problem and tell those guys to leave – Volkswagen, General Motors [soon to go – Ed], Goodyear, Continental Tyres and we must not forget that nameless company with the atrocious record of mistreating its black employees.

That is just to name a few of the WMC-controlled businesses that operate in Port Elizabeth. I am sure with all your local knowledge, we will find more we can tell to leave.

Once those WMC businesses have gone, I am sure, with the help of our beloved ANC, we can come up with a solution to solve the unemployed masses, poverty and all the other hardships that may occur.

We can always ask members of the SABC, Eskom, SAA, Transnet, Sanral (to name a few) to come to PE to tell us how to exploit the unemployed so that we can continue to be very wealthy. We certainly don’t have a problem with making the unemployed poorer.

Oh and by the way, my dear friend Mr Galloway, please stop using this expression in your letters – “white monopoly capital”. I honestly thought you had more in you than to be a copycat and to use an English expression – how shocking, when you are all for decolonising!

Your ever-loving friend . . .

Vernon Haley, Summerstrand, PE
