Replace mayor and deputy mayor

-

AN open letter to Mmusi Maimane and Bantu Holomisa:

Please, for the sake of sanity, will you redeploy Athol Trollip and Mongameli Bobani from Nelson Mandela Bay?

The coalition with these two at the helm is never going to work.

Trollip had a reputation for being autocratic in provincial politics and is indeed proving to be so as mayor.

Bobani has also been controversial and is now more so than ever.

Both of these men are playing power games, to the detriment of this beautiful city, when in fact neither has any real power.

Do not for one minute think that the opposition is not watching and playing a waiting game, while these two egotistical men commit political suicide.

You are both good and honest leaders of your respective parties, but we are watching while you are being divided by the infighting in the Bay.

Don’t let that happen because then there can only be one winner – the opposition.

Also another hard decision, Mmusi Maimane.

While agreeing that Helen Zille has been a stalwart of the DA, I and many other people think that it is time for her to retire gracefully.

You say you are ready to form a coalition in 2019.

For that to happen you are going to have to take some tough decisions and you cannot afford to carry anyone who divides the party.

This is no time to stand back – politics is a hard game and has no place for sentiment.

Please listen to the voters of Nelson Mandela Bay and sort out the leadership, and quickly.

I am still a DA supporter, but am being pushed by the metro mayor.
