Political power triumphs

-

DEAR ANC politicians,

You missed a chance to vote honestly regarding the needs which clearly lie in front of you and to show a good moral standing.

You have cared more for your party than for the people. This is not good governance. Good governance transcends party privilege and cares for all the country’s citizens.

It also is a servant role, not a role where you exalt yourselves.

You, the ANC, know Jacob Zuma must go. You’re going soon to get rid of him because he’s an embarrassment to you, just as he is a national embarrassment.

You’re not fools – those of you who still have morals.

You know he’s done huge damage to your party and you’re sick of trying to cover up for him.

But just because your party didn’t start the process of getting rid of him, you vote for him to stay until you kick him out.

It’s not a win for you, it’s a loss of credibility for the ANC politicians.

It hurts your party, but it will hurt you personally in the end.

You will kick him out in some clever political way.

You’re planning behind closed doors to try to gain points from unsuspecting voters, so that you can say it was your idea. It will never be your idea. It is the idea of a united group of others who have called for him to go and some of your people – more and more of them each day – agree with these others, who are mostly your opposition.

So now it is every Dick, Tom, Harry and Sipho who are wanting Zuma out.

Just take a look around you and see the rainbow of South Africans turning their backs on you.

South Africans who used to support you, who believed in you, who voted for you. They’re sick of you. It’s stupid to try to prevent Zuma’s exit (I call it the Zexit plan), and the silly excuses and reasoning you’re giving are costing our country severe international embarrassment.

Your credibility is going down the drain and it’s hitting the pockets of every citizen of South Africa who doesn’t have a political sugar daddy.

People are losing their jobs over your tardiness and spinelessness.

You have the seats in parliament, sure, but not the guts which good politicians need. Make an urgent move. Be honest. Chuck Zuma out. Show some wisdom. Show some muscle. Show some decisiveness. Prosecute him on all the (700?) charges which are stacked against him. Let him defend himself in fair court.

If he’s found to be not guilty by honest justice, let him go free.

He’s not a good president, but he needs to be treated as a normal citizen. If he’s found guilty, put him in jail, like any other criminal. But let’s get the show on the road. Let’s get this horrible history behind us.

He’s definitely the worst president any country could have.

Every day which is lost costs South Africans a whole heap of money and credibility.

John, Port Elizabeth
