Ama-units in charge with seven-goal spree

AMA-UNITS continued their dominance of the Nelson Mandela Bay Masters League with a resounding 7-0 over Eberspache­r.

Anele January led the onslaught with a hat-trick, while Bangisizwe Bona and Eddie Fani both netted two goals each.

In another high-scoring game on Sunday, Sparks thumped Young Pirates 4-0 – with goals by Thanduxolo Gxwalintlo­ko, Zola Zuzile, Thando Kekana and Sizwe Mavovana.

Volkswagen scored a 2-0 win over Soweto, to move into second place, seven points behind the log leaders.

Siyabonga Makhangela and Simphiwo Williams scored on either side of the break for Volkswagen of Uitenhage.

In one of the better matches of the day, Eleven Attackers beat Steve Tshewte Villagers 4-2.

Attackers are now third on the log, just one point behind VW.

Gcobani Bolo, two, Mthunzi Mrwebi and Thembelani Kondlo scored for Attackers. Kagiso Lebuso and Khaya Shenxane replied for Villagers.

Tailenders New Brighton upset the odds to beat fourth-placed PE All Stars 2-1 – with goals by Mbulelo Funde and Kwanele Dzadza.

Monde Dikana replied for PE All Stars.

HIGHBURY returned to their goalscorin­g ways to thrash Vuku Wanderers 11-1 in a Safa-NMB Women’s League fixture on Sunday to again move to the top of the log.

The outfit from Bridgemead­e, Port Elizabeth, have now scored 44 goals, with just four against them in their nine matches.

Warriors ended the winning streak of NMMU Madibaz when they beat the students 1-0, to tie in second place with African Chiefs, who had a bye.

Kubs scored an easy 4-1 win over PE United, to move into third place on the log.

There is a three-way tie at the top of the B Stream league table.

With maximum points from their double header, Dower United top the log on goal difference.

They beat Young Aces and thumped Kuyga Ladies 6-0.

On Sunday, Aces recovered from their loss to Dower to thrash Rainbow Stars 10-0.

Bodene are second on the log, after scoring a close 1-0 victory over Golden Stars.

Park United beat Volcano 2-0, to tie with Dower and Bodene on points.
