Captain Alfredo looks tasty at Fairview

- Herald Racing Editor

CAPTAIN Alfredo looks hard to beat at Fairview tomorrow, but punters are advised to go wide in a field that looks rather tricky.

He runs in main event of the day, the Computaform Express Pinnacle Stakes over 1 200m, with several contenders staking a claim.

Captain Alfredo, who will have Karl Zechner up for the Justin Snaith yard, won his last race by four lengths on the turf when Piere Strydom led from start to finish.

He now turns to the Polytrack and if he can repeat that run should make a bold bid.

He is an eight-time winner from 25 starts and must be respected as a serious contender.

Look out for a good run by Favour’s Pride, who is in the form of her life.

In her last seven races she has not run further back than third and made a good impression in her Port Elizabeth debut this month when second behind Easy Street, just 0.75 lengths back. Teaque Gould takes the ride and could continue the good form.

Grey Insearch of the sun was narrowly beaten by a neck by Rock Deejay last time out. Greg Cheyne gets back into the saddle and Insearch of the sun looks set for another top run.

Then there is Normanz, who is very consistent lately and should run well again. He finished 4.25 lengths back last time after being reluctant to load and should improve on that performance.

However the contenders stop with only these runners.

Kingoftheworld, Pacific Spirit, Story Of My Life, Kiss Me Hardy and Brooklyn Brawler could all expect support in the betting.

Kingoftheworld is a better horse than his last run suggests and Jarryd Penny is expected to prove that.

With so many horses with the ability to win the main prize, the Quartet could deliver a decent dividend.

Racing starts at 12.30pm with the Fairview Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1 200m. Battle Creek and Oratio could battle it out for top honours.
