Council nod for Zitumane appointment

-

VUYO Zitumane was finally appointed executive director of corporate services of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality on Wednesday.

A known administrator, who earned the title of “Mrs Fix It”, Zitumane’s appointment was approved by the majority of the council during the confidential session of Wednesday’s meeting.

It follows months of tense opposition from deputy mayor Mongameli Bobani, who did not want her hired for the job.

The Herald understands that the DA and its coalition partners, ACDP and COPE, managed to approve her appointment as the EFF had abstained from voting on the item.

Cooperative Governance MEC Fikile Xasa will have to concur with Zitumane’s appointment.

Her contract will be in place for five years. – Rochelle de Kock
