NMMU stumble in league title race
NMMU A stumbled slightly in the race for the Eastern Province men’s first league squash title this week, allowing Londt Park A to edge ahead on the log.
While the new log leaders claimed a full haul against Old Grey A, the varsity team dropped valuable points against the combative Crusaders outfit.
Dane Bigara and Dan Schultz scored significant wins for Saders as they and NMMU played out to an 8-8 tie, with Jason le Roux and Gershwin Forbes ensuring it was not a complete disaster for the students.
Forbes, though, was pushed all the way by Andrew Reekie, trailing 2-1 before winning the final two games 13-11 11-5.
Londt Park did not have it all their own way either, with Old Grey players Siphelele Mpini and Keith Stuart showing their fighting qualities before losing in five to Graham Hall and Warren Watermeyer respectively.
