Arts festival paper moves to digital
FOR the first time in 30 years, National Arts Festival-goers will be forced to make do without their Cue newspaper.
The publication is going digital, transformed into a new Rhodes University School of Journalism and Media Studies journalism project called CueMedia, in an attempt to bring together the strengths of traditional media and to streamline expenses.
According to the festival’s Fringe Office, the project will feature some of the old print favourites, like the fringe clips and other reviews.
Readers will also be able to access previews, commentary, photography, video and audio, 24 hours a day.
This new format will now also allow for audience feedback.
According to publisher Brian Garman, the change is due to drastic funding cuts.
