Highlights our clinic problem

-

THE Herald of Friday June 23 has once again highlighted a very serious problem in our midst!

The pupil with TB, doing the right thing by going to the clinic for his medication, is chased away (“TB victim dies after rejection by clinic”)? He is now dead! One of my staff members went to the clinic in Walmer township for her contraceptive injection last Wednesday, again being responsible.

She waited until 12 noon, then was told they were not going to help her.

She had the sense to go to the 14th Avenue clinic, where she was assisted.

This is unfair to the staff and patients of an already very busy clinic.

Another woman with a breast-feeding baby was allegedly chased away again from the clinic in Walmer township and told to go back to the clinic in Humansdorp.

She has been receiving her antiviral treatment since January this year when she relocated to Port Elizabeth – another responsible person being treated with disrespect.

I go to a clinic and sometimes witness harsh, rude treatment.

Of course, there are those committed and caring, but they are in the minority!

If there is any response from any official from the Health Department, it will probably give a load of hogwash as an excuse.

This has become the fashion trend when the government or municipality is questioned.
