Pelfa sides jostle for top spot at round-end

- Mogan Segadavan segadavanm@timesmedia.co.za

THE first round of the Pelfa Old Buck Legends League ends tomorrow night with no clear leader in sight.

Three points separate the top five teams.

Shamrocks, who are the current kingmakers, should have an easy match against PE City in their own backyard.

Over the past three weeks, the Malabar outfit have toppled each of the log leaders.

In the last match, City were thumped 4-0 by Kuyga Masters, who are two points ahead of three teams tied in second place.

Masters will expect to beat Westpark at St Albans. However, they cannot take the visitors for granted after their recent form.

Callies’ goal-scoring spree could come to an end when they play NMB Municipality at the Westbourne Oval.

The Londt Park outfit have been in great form in recent weeks, scoring 20 goals without reply.

In their last match, they caused the biggest shock of the season when they thrashed early logleaders African Leopards 6-0.

Municipality, on the other hand, are the most unpredictable team in the league and on their day could beat the best.

Last week, they thrashed struggling Priory 5-0.

Leopards and Hearts clash at the Londt Park Sports Club in what could be the match of the night.

After just one week at the top of the log, Hearts lost 2-1 to Shamrocks in their match last week to drop to third.

Mahle Old Grey, who beat Westpark 3-1 last week, could be in for another easy match when they host Priory at the Old Grey Sports Club.

Fixtures:

NMB Municipality v Callies (Westbourne Oval), Mahle Old Grey v Priory (Old Grey Sports Club), African Leopards v Hearts (Londt Park Sports Club), Kuyga Masters v Westpark (St Albans), Shamrocks v PE City (Victoria Park Sports Club).
