Upset by the sight of child not strapped in

- Upset driver, Port Elizabeth

PORT Elizabeth drivers are a disgrace on the roads.

I was fetching my son from work on Sunday afternoon.

There was a car accident in the William Moffett-Cape Road intersection.

A woman driving a white bakkie nearly hit me from behind in the same intersection as the car accident.

She waved as if to apologise for nearly hitting me from behind.

The thing that upset me the most about this reckless driver was I noticed a young child in the front sitting with this woman.

It appeared that she was not buckled in and was not in a car seat.

Are parents aware that it is illegal for children under the age of 12 to be sitting in a car without a child’s car seat or being buckled up?

Imagine if that child had gone through the front window of the bakkie as that irresponsible adult slammed on her brakes.

That adult should not be allowed to have children in her care.

I urge all drivers who use our roads in South Africa please to adhere to all the road rules and be responsible road users.

Most accidents on the roads can be avoided if you drive carefully.

Stop at red robots and don’t take unnecessary chances on the roads.

Please all road users, promote safe driving in Port Elizabeth.
