Jose Mourinho ‘ready to lead Man United for next 15 years’

-

JOSE Mourinho intends to bring stability to Manchester United and wants to remain in charge for the next 15 years.

The 54-year-old is in his second year at the helm at Old Trafford and aims to follow up last season’s EFL Cup and Europa League victories with success in the Premier League and Champions League.

He is not known for his longevity at clubs, but has a long-term manifesto with United that goes beyond results on the pitch.

“I am ready for the next 15, I would say. Here? Yes, why not?

“I have to admit that it is very difficult because of the pressure around our jobs, everybody putting pressure on managers and things that people say – that we have to win – but in reality only one can win and every year it is getting more difficult.

“But what I try to do in the club is show that my work goes further than the football results, that it goes to areas that people don’t think of as a manager’s job.

“In my vision, my job is much more than what I do on the pitch and the results that my team get at the weekend.

“This club, for so many years, was Sir Alex [Ferguson]. “People got used to it; people understood the great consequences of that stability. After David [Moyes] and Mr [Louis] Van Gaal, I come to my second year and hopefully I can stay and give that stability the club wants.”

The only way he can guarantee a long-term future at Old Trafford is to win silverware.

He has already spent big in this summer’s transfer window, signing Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku for more than £100-million R1.7-billion), but remains unhappy at the lack of deals so far.

“We always want more,” he said. “We always feel there is room to improve, and I cannot say that I am happy with our transfer window.

“What I can also say is that it is a difficult transfer window and I don’t blame anyone – it is just a reality of things.

“The market is going in such a direction that many players are difficult to get, not to say impossible.

“Every club is powerful and they don’t want to sell or their demands are really high, so the market is difficult.

“Everton started really strong in the market without the Lukaku money. AC Milan, without selling players, are buying non-stop, so it depends on the moment, the objective, maybe on new owners.” – The Telegraph
