Second spot in league still up for grabs

- Mogan Segadavan

ALTHOUGH the title race in the NMB Masters League has been decided, the stage is set for a thrilling finale on Sunday, with three teams battling it out for the runners-up spot.

Ama-units, who clinched the championship with three matches to spare, could have a say in who finishes second when they play PE All Stars at Dynamos.

Last week, Volkswagen beat All Stars in an eightgoal thriller to draw level with them in second place.

A defeat for All Stars could see them drop to third or even fourth place.

Volkswagen play Eleven Attackers at NU19 in a match neither side can afford to lose.

Attackers, who are just a point behind All Stars and Volkswagen, had a walkover a week ago against Zwide Masters.

Gqebera, who came close to causing the upset of the weekend when they held Young Pirates to a 2-2 draw, will have their tails up when they play Steve Tshwete Villagers.

The draw proved costly for Pirates, who had an outside chance of a second-place finish.

Pirates play Winners at the Dan Qeqe Stadium, with both teams challenging for a top-eight finish.

Sparks, who are certain of finishing in the top eight, take on Zwide Masters.

The fixtures are: Sparks v Zwide Masters, Eleven Attackers v Volkswagen, Steve Tshwete Villagers v Gqebera (all NU13), Winners v Young Pirates (Dan Qeqe), Soweto v New Brighton (Dan Qeqe), PE Eleven v Joe Slovo (Molefe), Eberspacher v Veeplaas (Molefe), Ama-Units v PE All Stars (Dynamos)
