Units disappoint­ed

IT was a disappoint­ing end to the NMB Masters League season for Ama-Units on Sunday when they lost their final match 3-2 to PE All Stars.

After securing the league title with three matches to spare, AmaUnits have taken their foot off the pedal, losing two of their last three matches – including a 4-0 thrashing by Volkswagen a fortnight ago.

In a race to the tape, All Stars secured the runners-up berth with victory over the champions.

In the battle for third place, Volkswagen and Eleven Attackers drew 0-0, Volkswagen securing the spot.

Attackers finish the season in fourth place, a point behind Volkswagen. Results: Sparks 2 Zwide Masters 0, Eleven Attackers 0 Volkswagen 0, Steve Tshwete Villagers 1 Gqebera 1, Winners 3 Young Pirates 0, Soweto 3 New Brighton 1, PE Eleven 1 Joe Slovo 2 1, Eberspache­r w/o Veeplaas, Ama-Units 2 PE All Stars 3. CITY Rangers and Royal Bucks drew 0-0 in a hard-fought top-of-thetable Mofa Premier League match on Sunday.

Despite the draw, Rangers retain their place at the top of the log.

Highland Spurs, who went into the weekend tied with Rangers on points, drop to second following a 2-1 defeat by Manchester United.

Bucks are third, just two points off the pace.

Real Strikers went unbeaten in their three weekend matches.

On Friday they drew 1-1 with Liverpool. The next day they caused an upset, beating Real Madrid 1-0. On Sunday they drew 1-1 with Young Tigers.
