All Pelfa sides set for exciting action

- Mogan Segadavan

THERE is excitement for fans of the Pelfa Old Buck Legends League as all the teams will be in action at the Old Grey Sports Club fields today.

Two matches will be played concurrently.

Log-leaders Kuyga Masters take on African Leopards in the early afternoon game on the A field.

With the league race still wide open and three teams tied in second place – just two points behind them – Kuyga cannot afford to lose.

Last week, both teams scored four goals. Kuyga beat Mahle Old Grey 4-2, while Leopards thrashed Westpark 4-0. In the first round, they won 1-0. On the adjoining field, Shamrocks take on Old Grey.

In the first round, Old Grey won 3-1. But since then, the Malabar outfit had an excellent run and went five matches unbeaten, until they lost to Callies a fortnight ago.

Shamrocks are one of the serious contenders for the Pelfa Legends League title and must reverse the first round result to stay in the hunt.

Callies, who head the chasing pack on goal difference, take on old foes PE City. In the first round, the Londt Park outfit thumped City 6-0.

While they are expected to win again, the scoreline should be closer.

In a battle of the tailenders, Westpark play Priory – and the result should be close. In the first round they drew 3-3.

In the final match, Hearts play the unpredictable NMB Municipality In the first round, Hearts won 3-0. But Hearts’s brief stay at the top of the log ended last week, when they were beaten 2-1 by Callies.

Fixtures:

3.45pm – African Leopards v Kuyga Masters, Shamrocks v Mahle Old Grey, 5pm – PE City v Callies, Westpark v Priory, 6.40pm – Hearts v NMB Municipality.
