A PORT Elizabeth policewoman who allegedly masterminded the murder of her boyfriend – whose body was placed in the boot of a car which was later set alight – will bring a formal bail application next week.

Nosicelo Kamba, 32, of Maqanda Street, Kwazakhele, and her co-accused, Lunga Mbondo, 34, of Madikane Street, Kwazakhele, appeared in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with murder.

The pair’s court appearance stemmed from the gruesome murder of Kamba’s policeman boyfriend, Vuyo Matshisi, whose body was discovered on July 2.

During the hearing, residents picketed outside, urging the court to deny Kamba and Mbondo bail.

Matshisi, 36, was found dead in the boot of the burnt-out car, which had crashed onto a piece of open land about 20km from Peddie, near Ngqowa.

His body was burnt beyond recognition.

Both Kamba and Matshisi were based at the Gelvandale police station.

Sources close to the investigation had said previously the vehicle had crashed down an embankment and had been about 10m off the road, out of the view of passing motorists.

But it emerged later that the car crash was allegedly staged to make it appear that a hijacking had taken place.

Kamba, with whom Matshisi had a five-month-old child, requested that the matter be postponed to September 8 for a legal representative to be appointed, and a bail application.

The application was granted.
