Madibaz want to put home loss behind them
MADIBAZ will be looking to bounce back to their winning ways in their next match, after a disappointing run against Tuks at the NMU Indoor Sports Centre.
The home side slipped to a 45-24 defeat that resulted in their first loss of the Varsity Netball Tournament.
They displayed an incredible amount of confidence, which assisted them in suppressing Tuks and denying them a bonus point in the process.
“The game against Tuks was already a great improvement on our performance from the last encounter we had with the side,” Madibaz coach Lana Krige said.
“It was also a great opportunity for all the young players to engage in really competitive netball,” she said.
Madibaz struggled in defence and will need to go back to the drawing board to reinforce their guard.
“I was a bit disappointed in the score because we turned over a lot of balls and should have capitalised more frequently,” Krige said.
“We need to work on our execution and make sure that we stay consistent throughout the game.
“Our girls have a great rhythm in the middle of the court and need to keep the ball in hand because the team has a lot of speed. No team can outrun us.”
Madibaz captain Nandipha Jack said: “I feel like we let the Tuks gameplan get to us and we were playing according to their style in the first quarter.
“We were rushing and trying to chase their score, which got us panicking for most of the game.”
The NMU side will be hoping to bank on home ground advantage when they take on Pukke.
“We are confident in our speed and going forward we want to stick to our own style and game plan,”

Jack said. “Playing at home has certainly boosted our confidence and we are hoping to play even better in the next game.”
The below 50 score against Tuks means that Madibaz remain in the top four on the log and could land in second position should they receive a bonus point in the game.
They were, however, dealt with a blow when wing attacker Sanelise Mgijima incurred a terrible knee injury and will have to adjust their attack when they take on Pukke on September 18.
