Scriptwriters get a shot with workshop
ASPIRANT scriptwriters in and around Port Elizabeth will have a chance to see their words come to life on screen through a writing workshop to be hosted in the city later this month.
One Blood Sounds will be hosting a workshop on September 30 as part of the National Film Video Foundation Programme, under the leadership of Johannesburg script editor Mokopi Shale.
Shale, previously a radio drama actress and television presenter, has published three fiction novels, worked on soap opera Generations and runs her own production company, Fuze Films.
“[The] workshop will help anyone who has a story to tell to transform their ideas and vision into a bankable script,” Nomakhomazi Dewavrin, of One Blood Sounds, said.
At the end of the workshop, the best script will be chosen and made into a short film. “Humour is what we are looking for,” she said. Scriptwriters who are interested in the free workshop, to be held at Gallery Noko in Russell Road, should submit a five-page script depicting a scene that would typically take place in Port Elizabeth.
