BIRDING WEEKEND

BIRDLIFE Eastern Cape is hosting a birdwatchi­ng weekend away at Oudeland farm near Murraysbur­g in the Karoo, from tomorrow to Sunday. This will be a getaway in a comfortabl­e farmhouse in the deep Karoo with the chance to see birds such as the ground woodpecker, yellow bellied eremomela, Cape penduline tit, grey winged francolin and Karoo korhaan. TALK TO THE ANIMALS

A BEGINNER’S course in animal communicat­ion will be held on Saturday at 9am in Lorraine and at the Kragga Kamma Reserve. The introducto­ry course is aimed at helping teach animal owners how to facilitate a two-way communicat­ion with their pets in order to develop a much deeper bond. The course costs R700. NAARTJIE FESTIVAL

THE Agrimark Naartjie Festival on Saturday will include performanc­es by musicians Elvis Blue, Jay, Sarah Theron, Elizma Theron, Manie Jackson and Dillon Lerm. There will be vegetable, naartjie, food and art stalls, as well as a Miss Naartjie Festival and Mr Naartjie Pip competitio­n. The festival starts at 8am, at the Dutch Reformed Church in Loerie and admission is R100 for adults, and R50 for primary school children (which includes entry to the music festival). CONCERT HOUR
