Veteran athlete Ntshiliza gives winner run for his money

FORMER Two Oceans marathon winner George Ntshiliza proved that there is still enough left in his ageing legs when he finished second in the Windpomp Karoolus half-marathon in GraaffRein­et on Saturday.

Nedbank SWD runner Siethemba Swarts was first past the post in 1:06:06, with the veteran just over half a minute behind.

Annalise Scholtz (Madibaz BW) was an easy winner in the women’s category, beating Siphokazi Nojoko (Motherwell) by more than three minutes.

Local runner Sipho November won the 10km race in 33:22, with Lara Orrock (Excellente) the first woman home in 35:58.

PARTICIPAN­TS in the free 5km timed parkruns topped the 1 000 mark on Saturday, with Hobie Beach once again leading the way with more than 700 turning up.

After a disappoint­ing turnout last week Jeffreys Bay was back on track with nearly 250 participan­ts.
