PUNISH MURDERERS SEVERELY

DUE to the savage and barbaric criminal activity taking place in the Willows area, it must be time to burn and level the bush area, and drive out the riff-raff skollies who are responsible for the heinous crimes happening daily under the protection of the bush! SANDY

THE scum responsible for the murder of Ken Alexander (“Peaceful hamlet rocked by murder”, September 27) should be publicly hanged on the beachfront. JUSTICE FOR KEN SCHOENMAKERSKOP murder: we will not forgive or forget. May you and your souls rot in hell. MIKE WATSON

SICKENED, I find your sick comment asking if “Rory Riordan will blame the DA for Schoenies attack” (September 28) nauseating! PAX

SUPPORT FOR WALMER STREET TRADERS

AMEN to all those who wrote to The Herald to protest against the forced removal of the vendors on Eighth Avenue and elsewhere. It seems the DA needs to get its priorities in order. Remove livestock and stray dogs from our roads. Paint the lines on the roads, in particular at dangerous intersections, Ninth Avenue and Heugh Road, Villiers and Ninth Avenue, Albert Road and Sixth Avenue, and many more!

Make a safe place for pedestrians to cross Heugh Road, not at an intersection! And speed humps must be erected ahead of the pedestrian crossing, not combined with it!

A mayor in the US recently went to live with an underprivileged community for a few days. His visit changed his perspective and helped him to get his priorities right! Why not give it a try, Mr Trollip? VOTER

THANK you to the municipal officials who heard the cry for help from the informal traders and the community to rethink their decision about their removal. Y C WILLIAMS VERY sad that the street traders story (“Street traders given a lifeline”) rates a much bigger headline than that of the two elderly victims who were attacked by those very brave robbers (“Schoenies murder victim beaten to death”, September 28). READER THE attack on the Schoenmakerskop couple was the lead story on the previous day’s The Herald front page (“Peaceful hamlet rocked by murder”, September 27). The attack received extensive coverage on that day and thereafter. – The editor

HOLD LOOTING PROTESTERS TO ACCOUNT

I THINK it is about time the marauding thugs at Fort Hare are held accountable for the damage they cause (“Looting during Fort Hare protest”, September 28). It seems they always have a grievance at exam time. OBSERVER

TRAFFIC COP DIDN’T SEE VIOLATION

ON Thursday at 2.10pm a taxi on the inside lane at the Third Avenue and Heugh Road intersection cut across all lanes to turn into the avenue towards the airport. A traffic control car [registration number supplied] was driving alongside me! When I queried why the official did nothing about the incident, her reply was “Oh! We were so busy talking, we didn’t see anything”! JAYJAY

WENT FOR THE MONEY

AB de Villiers is back in the test side. He went for the money instead when the Proteas needed him for the England tour. Do I have to add more? LOGIE
