REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS

DR Malcolm Figg’s letter regarding the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court (“Buildings not fit for courts’ use”, October 3) has promoted me to ask this question: why is there generally no pride in government buildings? What I notice is rundown and unkempt, inside and out.

I recently had to go to the UIF (Department of Labour) office in Humansdorp. What a shambles. Three rooms in a back street.

In Graaff-Reinet the chairs in the waiting room are broken with the foam on the seats showing and a pile of old furniture thrown into a corner. Obviously site visits are not done by the Department of Public Works. I could elaborate on buildings and the service within, but space does not allow.

METHINKS that Kevin Foster protesteth too much (“Ashamed of riotous behaviour”, October 4). He does have an option, of course, and that is to oppose his beloved ANC and resign.

DID my eyes deceive me? R84 500 for admission to Life St George’s (“Victim treated immediately”, October 3). You will stand before God one day, and try and explain. I pity you all.
