TALKS ON DIABETES

DIABETES meetings will be held tomorrow and on Wednesday. Tomorrow podiatrist Stuart Alexander will give a talk at 7pm on The Diabetic Foot at the Malabar Community Centre Minor Hall. Gym instructor Soraya Boomgaardt will talk about the importance of exercise and diabetes tomorrow at the Gospel Hall in Springdale, from 7pm. ‘THE HOUSE OF TRUTH’

THE PE Opera House and the Sello Maake-KaNcube Foundation will present The House of Truth from Wednesday to Saturday. The play, by Siphiwo Mahala, is based on the life of journalist and author Can Themba. It stars Sello Maake-KaNcube in the lead role and is directed by Vanessa Cooke. FASHION WEEK

NELSON Mandela Bay Fashion Week runs from Thursday to Sunday. The NMBFW Launch Party is at 7.30pm on Wednesday at the Roof Garden Bar; tickets are R50 at the door. Designer Thabo Makhetha will open NMBFW on Thursday at 6pm, followed by The Space and Vukani Designer Search. Rusultaan Fashion is at 6.30pm on Friday, followed by The Space and Vukani Designer Search at 7pm. On Saturday, Cleo Allison opens at 3pm, followed by other Bay designers, then East London designers present between 4.45 and 6.45pm, before MaXhosa by Laduma closes at 7pm. Tickets are on sale at Computicke­t.

VIDEO MORNING

THE 1820 Settlers’ Associatio­n will host a video morning on Wednesday at 136 Villiers Road, Walmer. The video viewing will begin at 9.30am sharp. Tickets cost R20 for members and R25 non-members, and are inclusive of refreshmen­ts. Inquiries: Laura (041) 581-4031.
