THE Alliance Française is hosting its So Chef! programme this week, culminatin­g in a gastronomi­c dinner on Saturday at Fairview Race Course. Tonight there will be a wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres served at 6.30pm for 7pm with Janco Kruger (The Taste Room) and on Wednesday, Prof Marius Crous will give a free talk on “The metaphors we eat by” at 6.30pm at Café Philo. Both events are at the Alliance in Mackay Street. On Thursday there will be a screening at 6.30pm of the film The Hundred-Foot Journey at the Black Box Theatre. On Saturday, Chef Alexandre Galmar from Reunion Island and local chef, Annelie Oosthuizen will prepare a “four hand” gastronomi­c dinner using French cooking techniques and local produce. WATERCOLOU­R MEETING

‘SING, SING, SING’

STUDENTS from Rhodes and Nelson Mandela University jazz vocal lecturer Ulagh Williams will present a concert Sing, Sing, Sing! at the NMU South Campus auditorium at 1pm tomorrow. BINGO MORNING

NIGHT MARKET

THE Good Night Market is at the Tramways Building in the Baakens Valley on Thursday from 5pm to 9pm. Bring along a bottle of wine or enjoy the TOPS gin and vodka tasting evening. DANCE FOR A CAUSE

CAPE Recife High School hosts a fundraisin­g dance this Saturday, from 7pm. Tickets cost R50 and will also be sold at the door, with funds going to 10-year-old Cape Recife pupil Micaela, who has lost her eyesight. She needs special software to continue her schooling.
