BRING BACK DEATH PENALTY

I FEEL that the death penalty needs to be brought back. The legal system is failing decent people. There are too many rapes, violent crimes and murders. Crimes are often committed by repeat offenders. Money saved on caring for these people could then be used to uplift our poor communities.

WHY NOT BEING PROTECTED?

ONCE again rhinos are killed in a reserve (“Entire rhino herd wiped out”, October 25). Why are they not being protected? I don’t trust this business!

WATER USAGE CONCERNS

DEAR Annette Lovemore (“Water cuts loom”, October 26), please don’t put the blame all on residents for the increase in water consumption. There were a hell of a lot of burst water pipes spewing water out, sometimes for days before they got fixed. I know you are doing your best and the DA is doing a sterling job, but stop the blame game please.

READER THE municipality doesn’t care. A leak was reported on October 13 and daily since then. It is getting worse. Municipality, wake up.

CITIZEN WELL really, does Annette Lovemore put all blame on residents instead of looking at the water wastages due to burst pipes left for weeks? Even water leaks reported to councillors’ offices are ignored.

CONCERNED, PORT ELIZABETH

A BURST water pipe in Perkins Street was reported on October 13 and is still not repaired.

MANIE ANNETTE Lovemore targets people who actually pay for water to try to save water, but does nothing about the thousands who don’t pay and allow the taps to run and run. Not to even mention that it takes weeks for municipal workers to come out to fix leaks that are reported.

MEDIUM-TERM BUDGET WOES

“GIGABA paints a picture of gloom” (October 26): so now JZ can sleep easy! Minister Malusi Gigaba gave him a lifeline, saved him from the red bear. Quick snooze in parliament!

DIDI, PORT ELIZABETH WHEN Pravin Gordhan was still finance minister the economy wasn’t so bad. He was axed for no reason, only for the benefit of some MPs. In comes Malusi Gigaba, a novice, and South Africa suffers two downgrades economy-wise. Gigaba gives a budget speech and in it the SA economy is in a bad state. We are heading for even more downgrades. The ANC is destroying SA. It’s heartbreaking.

ANC IN COURT

THE ANC is not in power, it is in court (permanently)!

HOW DID THIEVES GET AWAY?

A RECENT visit to Kirkwood makes me think the firearm thieves (“Firearms lifted from Kirkwood traffic unit”, October 26) must have used a getaway helicopter, as the only two roads in the whole town are all but impassable due to potholes. The council must grow respect for its people.
