Abrahams a man or puppet taking direction?

- Malcolm Dodds, Kunene Park, Port Elizabeth

I HAVE long been convinced that Jim Henson, who created the Muppets, was also responsible for creating the Shaun Abrahams puppet.

It is a puppet that is trotted out by the ANC whenever someone is threatening the gravy train and needs to be brought into line.

How else can you explain Abrahams’s almost complete disappearance from the public eye of late, since the embarrassment of having to drop fraud charges against Pravin Gordhan?

For goodness sake, here was the NPA head involved personally in a simple case of the legality of granting a SARS official an early retirement deal.

Abrahams was up front and centre on every media platform on what was a routine issue that should have been handled by one of his myopic minions.

But no, here he was doing the bidding of the hand that supports his glove puppet’s lack of a backbone.

Compare that situation with the current myriad issues that are no doubt piling up on his desk.

Issues like the Guptas’ wedding costs, the Giggling One’s 783 fraud and money-laundering charges, and the sale of the state oil reserves that all make the Gordhan case look like very small potatoes.

But Abrahams is nowhere to be seen when these matters need to be attended to with urgency.

No, I am convinced that Abrahams does not exist.

He lies crumpled in a desk drawer along with the other Muppet puppets, Nomgcobo Jiba and others.

If Henson was still alive he would probably be looking at a great new Muppet Movie involving the Muppets saving South Africa from the ANC.
