Man assaulted ‘for relieving himself on wall’

A KOMANI mother and her son have been released by a court on a warning after they allegedly assaulted a man who had relived himself on a wall of their house at the weekend.

Noxolo Sani and her son, Wandile, appeared at the Komani Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of assaulting Thabile Mabuzana, 21, after Wandile had allegedly caught him urinating against the wall.

Thabile’s mother, Zimkita Mabunzana, of Madeira, is demanding justice for her son.

“What is disturbing, is he was beaten by a woman who nearly killed him,” she said.

Thabile had to have his face stitched and it is still swollen.

The alleged assault happened on Saturday, while Thabile was visiting a friend who rents a flat at the Sani home.

While Mabuzana was still at the wall, Wandile asked him why he had not used the toilet, but attacked him before he could answer, his mother alleged.

“He then went inside his friend’s room and that is when Wandile came with Noxolo and they beat Thabile with a stick and bricks.

“His cousin, Maliphathwe, came to his rescue after he heard him screaming for help.

“The two continued assaulting both of them.”

A concerned Zimkita feared that the assault might negatively affect her son as he had been in a car accident before.

“He was in a car accident and that affected his head, his IQ dropped after the accident and I don’t know what the damage has done to him. I hope the police will do everything in their power to make sure this woman gets what she deserves,” she said.

Attempts to get comment from Sani were unsuccessful as her phone was off.

Police spokeswoman Captain Namhla Mdleleni confirmed the assault investigation.

“The two accused – Sani and her son – appeared in the Komani [previously Queenstown] Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and the case was postponed to December 13,” Mdleleni said.
