MUGABE QUITS AS PRESIDENT

WHY would SA allow the dictator, “Mad Bob” [Mugabe], to live here after eventually being “dethroned” by the people of Zimbabwe? We already have our own “dictator” in Mad Jacob [Zuma].

SANDY

HEH! Heh! You are next, Jacob Zuma. Tick tock! LOGIE LOOK north, Jacob Zuma, and see what people think of greedy, self-serving politicians. Then be afraid, very afraid.

JB

CONGRATS to all the Zimbabweans! The way you handled this transition has been admirable! This is unseen in SA.

L G, JEFFREYS BAY

I AM surprised that Robert Mugabe has not been arrested for the theft of millions of dollars from the Zim government and invested in offshore accounts.

WALTER

SURELY events in Zimbabwe show that the people don’t favour presidents’ wives carrying on corrupt dynasties.

REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS

“UNEMPLOYMENT in metro rises on the DA’s watch” (November 21): exactly, Rory Riordan. The DA promised to create jobs, yet it can’t even get a team together to ensure that the lines are painted on our roads. When the mayor posed to have his photograph taken at the “new entrance” to the Walmer Township, he must have noticed that the lines were not drawn on the road at that dangerous intersection.

And there are many other intersections where the road is not marked. This dramatically increases the chance of a crash, a bit like driving a car that isn’t roadworthy! And when we hit the unmarked speed bumps it damages our vehicles!

VOTER #NO CONFIDENCE

FRED Rogers (“Conditions would have been better”, November 21), the National Party has a great deal to answer for. Your diatribe is best ignored.

JOHN BROWN, WALMER, PORT ELIZABETH

CELEBRATE POVERTY

WE must celebrate poverty and be content with poverty. Capitalism breeds poverty. The rich get richer and the poor poorer. It is the culture of the modern world order. I’m happy being poor. I live in a shack. I don’t want to be rich. I might end up in a ditch. Let us celebrate poverty because it is going nowhere.
