Rovers look for redemption after 4-0 rout

FAIRVIEW Rovers are hoping to put their 4-0 thrashing by PE Sundowns behind them when they host Golden Aces in a Safa-NMB SAB League soccer fixture at the Saints field in Gelvandale tomorrow.

Fielding a young and untested side, Rovers were no match for the vastly experienced Sundowns.

“We have no excuse, on the day,” Rovers coach Poppy Harrison said. “But the boys are determined to bounce back this weekend.”

Aces will be no pushovers after their 1-1 draw against Highland Spurs last week.

The young Hearts outfit, who came of age last week with a resounding 3-1 win over Young Ideas, are away to Morning Stars at the Zwide Stadium.

“Morning Stars are the early pace-setters and it’s a tough ask,” Hearts assistant coach Munchy Margon said.

“Last week, the youngsters we introduced played with flair and if they can reproduce that form we will retain our unbeaten record.”

Ideas, who started with a bang but have struggled since, face a tough encounter against Despatch Pioneers at the NU9 Stadium.

With NMU Madibaz involved in the Safa-NMB leg of the Nedbank Cup, their match against Motherwell Academy has been postponed.

The fixtures are: Tonight: Young Killers v Ikamva Movers ( Jabavu Stadium) Tomorrow: Highland Spurs v Camper United (VW People’s Pavilion), Fairview Rovers v Golden Aces (Saints field, Gelvandale), Young Ideas v Despatch Pioneers (NU9 Stadium), Morning Stars v Hearts (Zwide Stadium), Amarahamba v Mabayibone Strikers (Khayamnandi Stadium), Major Chiefs v FC Winners (Zwide Stadium).

THE finals of the Walmer and Zwide sections of the Mayoral Cup will be played on Sunday.

The Walmer semifinal fixtures at the Walmer Community field tomorrow are: U13: Manchester United v Ghetto Stars, Peace United v Walmer Stars U15: Ghetto Stars v Peace United, Mabayibone Strikers v Golden Heroes Seniors: Eleven Experience v Real Madrid, African Aces v Walmer Stars.
