Uncle Jumbo’s still festive fun for kids

- – Catherine Richards

CHILDHOOD memories came flooding back when I took my two-yearold son to Uncle Jumbo’s Noddy Christmas Party at the DF Malherbe High School grounds in Walmer recently.

The production, presented by Rotaract Port Elizabeth, has brought a lot of joy to kids over the last 53 years and I was delighted to see it still had a similar programme to what I enjoyed as a child.

Farmer Uncle Jumbo introduces the children to Noddy and all the Disney princesses.

My son, Levi, loved the Noddy car and practised his climbing skills getting in and out the vehicle.

The clowns played with the kids and the Boys Brigade Band got the young ones and their parents marching up and down the field.

The highlight for Levi was meeting Santa Claus and Tinkerbell, who handed out gifts to each child. After all these years, Uncle Jumbo’s is still a treat for young and old.

It runs from Wednesday to Saturday each week, and ends on Friday December 15. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 6.30pm.

Tickets are at Computicket at R50 for adults and R60 for children aged one to 12. Visit: www.rotaractpe.co.za or e-mail: pe.rotaract@gmail.com for more details.
