Impossible to install 322 meters

-

IN response to the SMS, “Need own bathrooms” (December 6), the writer must not know the system as there was a residents’ AGM on Wednesday and nothing was raised at the meeting.

Had they bothered to ask, we could have informed them that it was physically impossible to install individual meters on the site by virtue of how the supply enters the village.

Also the writer makes no mention of the R625 a month rental paid by Sassa pensioners which includes electricity and lights. There are 322 housing units on site. Can you imagine the installation costs and running costs to maintain 322 geysers and bathrooms?

The rental would no longer be affordable to Sassa recipients. We have a long and desperate list of applicants.

Our application form states that it is low cost housing.
