Storyfields can finally deliver for Strydom

- By RACING EDITOR

TRAINER Jacques Strydom could get punters off to a flying start on the Fairview Polytrack today when he sends out Storyfields in Race 1 over 1 200m.

Jockey Jarryd Penny will be in the irons in this Maiden Plate for fillies and mares.

The five-year-old has already had 25 races, but seems ready to break the ice this time for Strydom’s Money Talks Syndicate.

In her penultimate race she flew late to finish 0.05 lengths behind Come On Inn over 1000m on the Polytrack and followed that effort with another second, 2.50 lengths behind Bullion Babe over 1 200m on the turf.

Penny rode Storyfields in her last two starts and they could get it right this time.

Desert Wisdom, Seattle Swing and Frikkie should fight out the finish in Race 4, the first leg of the Pick 6 over 2 200m.

The second leg is wide open, but trainer Grant Paddock could have the edge with Queen Justine who will have Craig Zackey in the saddle.

This five-year-old mare is holding form nicely, having finished second over 1 600m in her last two starts, which bodes well for her chances in this race.

However, victory won’t come easy as Another Night, Katies Jay, Widow’s Lamp, Red Hot Lady, Rocksette and Veeipee Club all have claims.

The third leg of the Pick 6 seems to be a three-way tussle between trainers Justin Snaith, Alan Greeff and Yvette Bremner.

Snaith sends out Prince Myshkin and Lord Marshal, while Greeff and Bremner are represented by Kimberley Star and Pacific Spirit respectively. Any of them can win.

Race 7 has plenty of upset material, but Greeff could be best with Quinelia, who will have Greg Cheyne in the saddle.

Brave punters will possibly consider Quinelia as a banker.

Race 8 is also a tricky affair and punters will pin their hopes on Laters Baby, Butterfly Spirit and Angie Bee to get to the winning post first.

Several runners have to be respected in the ninth and last race.

Suave, Mr Jay and Bah all look strong, but look out for Shine Like a Star, Joking Dice, Mark’s Glory and Just Too Early, who won impressively last Friday.
