Don’t despair if you didn’t pass matric

-

I WOULD like to congratulate all the matriculants who passed. Well done.

To those who did not make it, please do not despair as there are opportunities for you to complete your studies and obtain a good pass mark.

However, the will to do this lies within you.

It is up to you to want to create a better future for yourself, therefore, go for it.

A lot of excuses will again be bandied around by department of education officials as to why the Eastern Cape again has the lowest pass mark in the country, instead of coming up with remedial action on how to correct it.

I’m no educationist, but very passionate in wanting our children to have good academic qualifications.

How does one do this? As stated before, there is no rocket science in this.

Establish what the schools that are continuing to get good results are doing right and put together a plan to implement it at those less well-performing schools and, most importantly, monitor this plan to ensure that the key performance indictors are achieved.

MATRICS, sometimes the results force you to give up, but instead climb up the ladder and improve those subjects in which you did less well.

Guard your thoughts from being dominated by failure, negativity, missed opportunities and mistakes made.

That is attracting worry which will affect your future decisions.

Accept it and move on. Focus on creating solutions rather than thinking of suicide. Refuse to be paralysed by failure. Wipe the tears and look forward to another day with confidence.

Take a decision that will be followed by positive action even in the face of defeat.

Try again with perseverance, commitment and determination.

It doesn’t matter how many times you have failed, pick yourself up and try again. Do not give up!
