PE STARS continued their excellent form in the ABC Motsepe League when they secured an emphatic 5-1 victory over Future Tigers in King William’s Town at the weekend.

The Gelvandale outfit displayed no rustiness after the festive season break and the win sees them rise to second position on the log, with 27 points after 13 matches.

Stars will be hoping to maintain their position at the summit of the log in what should be the biggest match of the season when they lock horns with equally dominant EC Bees, at the Gelvandale Stadium on Friday.

The Bees are tied for second position with Stars on 27 points and will be looking to stand their ground against the fast-paced Stars strikers.

Meanwhile, Mdantsane’s Tornado have been unstoppable in their campaign so far – winning 11 of 13 games and consolidating the No 1 spot.

Tornado are on 34 points and will be looking to stretch their lead even further when they take on a struggling Highbury, also on Friday.

Despite having had a good end in the first half of the season, Matta Milan are still at the bottom of the log with just eight points and could find themselves deep in the relegation zone should they not start winning.

The weekend’s results are: Sibanye 1 Mthatha City 1, Lion City 1 Try Again 3, Highbury 4 Butterworth 0, Future Tigers 1 PE Stars 5, Pondo Chiefs 1 EC Bees 2, FC Buffalo 0 City Lads 2, Matta Milan 1 Subs 3, Spears 1 Tornado 2.
