THE Chilli Boys reserve team need to have a winning mentality when they take on Free State Stars in a Multichoice Diski Challenge fixture at the Goble Park Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

Glen Minnie’s charges have been blowing hot and cold in the competition so far after two wins and five losses in 10 games.

Their 1-1 draw with Sundowns over the weekend has given them a much-needed boost as they are looking to finish strongly in the competition.

They are number 14 on the log with nine points.

A win could see them rise from the relegation zone and be in the running for the top eight position.

“I am impressed with the way the young players are taking charge of the ball right now,” Minnie said.

“We should have won that game against Sundowns.

“We have drawn a couple of valuable lessons from that game and we hope to make better decisions in the next game.

“I have been telling them about managing the ball better.

“I am very impressed with the quality of players we have and the way they have been executing our game plan,” he said.

The Chilli Boys MDC side has a clean bill of health in the squad and will be looking to enter their encounter with Free State Stars with the same winning approach.

Minnie said he would like his side to start emulating the same style of play the first team possessed to reflect a good image in the club.

“It is a good thing that all our players are in good form,” Minnie said.

“This will help us carry the same attacking approach we had last week.

“We want to keep our discipline on a high standard as well.

“I am, however, disappointed that our hard work is not reflected on the field.

“Our first team has been doing really well and I hope to see my players taking on the same winning mentality.

“We are motivated by the way our first team has been playing and we need to up our game,” he said.
