DA coalition doing a good job in metro

- B Roberts, Providentia, Port Elizabeth BOTH the mayor and municipal manager declared themselves unhappy with the outcomes. – The editor

I NOTE that, as usual, your front page The Herald headline on Thursday January 18 is as negative as you can make it. Typically it screams “Bad news on metro delivery targets”, when it actually should read “Congratulations to the metro for achieving 59% of its delivery targets”.

With all the disgusting obstructive politicking thrown at the DA-led metro last year, not only by the ANC, which is expected of it, but by the coalition leaders themselves, it’s a miracle that it has managed to get this much done.

When are these politicians going to stop their destructive nonsense, and get on with serving their voters by doing what needs to be done to resurrect this beautiful city from the cesspool left by 20 years of ANC mismanagement and corruption?

Athol Trollip and his colleagues are doing a wonderful job of actually getting things done, but the rest of the councillors are too busy trying to hijack the votes to save their own skins.

The opposition voters would do well to realise that their elected representatives don’t give a flying fig about their people or the city. God help us all if they are stupid enough to allow the ANC back in, in the next election.

If that happens the city will take a giant leap backwards again.

So Mr Editor, how about a little positivity in your paper? It will be a new experience for you.
