IN A weekend of upsets, tailenders Golden Aces picked up their first points of the season in the Safa-NMB SAB League with a 1-0 win over fellow stragglers FC Winners at the Mawabo Dyubhe Stadium on Saturday.

Aces move away from the bottom of the log for the first time and are replaced by Winners who have just two points from drawn matches.

Log-leaders Young Killers suffered a 2-0 shock defeat by struggling Roaring Tigers. Tigers lost both of their opening matches this year.

Mabayibone Strikers, who are just outside the relegation zone, used home-ground advantage to score a shock 3-1 win over PE Sundowns, who went into the weekend second, just a point behind Killers. But despite the win Strikers are still in the bottom half of the log.

Major Chiefs became the new log leaders with an easy 3-0 win over Young Ideas at the NU9 Stadium on Friday.

Madibaz capitalised on an own goal to beat Despatch Pioneers 2-1. Madibaz are now in a three-way tie in third place with Killers and Morning Stars, who beat Amarambha United 3-1.

Hearts retain second spot after a 1-1 draw with Highland Spurs at the Saints field in Gelvandale on Friday evening.
