PECC face SuperSPAR Despatch

- Alvin Reeves reevesa@tisoblackstar.co.za

PECC have an ideal opportunity to climb to the top of the log when they host SuperSPAR Despatch in a NMB Premier League cricket fixture tomorrow.

The St George’s Park club have been in rampant form lately, collecting a maximum 12 points last weekend with good victories over United Brothers and SA Home Loans Union.

They are in second position, just three points behind logleaders Mechatronic Uitenhage, although they have played two more matches.

But with Uitenhage not in action this weekend, PECC will fancy their chances of passing them this weekend with a victory against Despatch.

At the Dan Qeqe Stadium, Jendamark United and United Brothers will get another chance to have a go at each other when the Zwide derby is contested tomorrow.

Their first fixture was postponed from late last year to last week and then it rained out, with the teams sharing points.

So both sides will be desperate to earn the bragging rights for the season.

In other matches tomorrow, Union host Motherwell while Mecer Madibaz 2 are back with a fixture against Old Grey.

The students have a busy weekend and face United Brothers at Dan Qeqe on Sunday.

Madibaz 1, who are favoured for the title but have much catching up to do with regard to outstanding fixtures, travel to face bottom-of-the-log Schauderville.

This weekend’s fixtures are (home teams first, 10am start): Tomorrow: United v United Brothers; Madibaz 2 v Old Grey; Union v Motherwell; PECC v Despatch Sunday: United Brothers v Madibaz 2; Schauderville v Madibaz 1 ý THE latest log, subject to ratification by the log-keeper, is: 1 Uitenhage 47 (10), 2 PECC 44 (12), 3 United Brothers 43 (11), 4 Old Grey 37 (10), 5 Madibaz 1 35 (6), 6 Gelvandale 31 (9), 7 Union 29 (11), 8 Despatch 23 (10), 9 United 22 (7), 10 Madibaz 2 12 (4), 11 Motherwell 10 (12), 12 Schauderville 9 (12).
