Cabinet reshuffle good

- Viwe Sidali, ANC Mzwanele Fazzie branch, former ANCYL REC Buffalo City Metro region and activist

THE decision by the Eastern Cape ANC PEC, as led by Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, to reshuffle the Eastern Cape cabinet is warmly welcomed and progressive.

It’s a move that no one must see as a purge, but an affirmation of the centre which in the ANC must always hold.

In the ANC no one is entitled to any position.

This glorious movement always goes to the elective conferences to assess and make changes in all spheres of leadership. Thumbs up to our sober PEC. As they are advancing these changes, I have some calls to them.

First, after the cabinet reshuffling they must go down to the municipalities such as Buffalo City and also the ANC regions which kept undermining the ANC call of unity – Amathole, Dr W B Rubusana, Joe Gqabi and Nelson Mandela regions.

For unity and stability they must be disbanded and regional task teams (RTTs) be appointed.

Again it’s not politics of hate or factionalism motivating this, but restoring the ANC dignity and killing crippling ill-discipline.

Second, the PEC must summon the Amatola Water Board and dissolve it. That board is useless.

Last, I appeal to the ANC PEC to consider setting an example by introducing a lifestyle audit on all ANC-deployed people.

I call on my newly-elected PEC to be decisive and act quickly.
