Good results for Kingswood

-

KINGSWOOD and Woodridge drew their first-team cricket match in Grahamstown on Saturday.

Sent in to bat in overcast conditions, the home side recovered after the early loss of Cameron Lombaard through Justin Potgieter (49) and Liam O Sullivan (29).

Nic Wilmot (41) joined Potgieter and the pair added 60 for the third wicket.

An important 40-run eighth-wicket partnership between Ant Sandys Thomas (28no) and William Pieterse (12) in seven overs enabled Kingswood to declare their innings on 197/8 after 56 overs.

This left them 43 overs to try to bowl out Woodridge, while the visitors needed to score at 4½ runs to the over to reach their target.

Going into the final 20 overs of the match, Woodridge had their backs to the wall at 60/6.

Kingswood went on an all-out attack but were unable to dismiss Kayle Russell (33no) and Cody Schoeman (16no), who fought hard while taking their team to 113/6 at the close.
