FOR the third successive week, struggling Amarhamba United beat a top three team in the Safa-NMB SAB League but failed to deliver the goods the next day.

Three weeks ago, the KwaNobuhle outfit beat log-leaders NMU Madibaz 1-0 on Saturday and were thrashed 4-0 by Highland Spurs the following day.

Last week, they scored a shock 3-0 win over Fairview Rovers and were thrashed 5-0 by PE Sundowns.

This week the team – just one place from the relegation zone – beat joint log leaders Sundowns 2-1 and on Saturday drew 0-0 with Golden Aces.

After four teams went into the weekend tied at the top of the log, Madibaz emerged as clear leaders after a walkover against Highland Spurs, who arrived late for their match at the university’s south campus on Friday evening, and victory over archrivals Fairview Rovers 2-0 on Sunday.

Sundowns drop to third following their defeat by Amarhamba and a 3-2 defeat by Major Chiefs on Sunday.

Morning Stars beat Camper United 2-1 to secure second spot.

Hearts, who were tied at the top of the log, drop after their match against Mabayibone Strikers was postponed.

After a series of dismal results, Motherwell Academy returned to the winning trail, beating Young Ideas 2-1.

Tailenders FC Winners beat Despatch Pioneers 3-2, only their second win of the season.

It was a good weekend for Roaring Tigers, who drew 2-2 with Ikamva Movers and thrashed Highland Spurs 3-0.
